The First 2007 Launching in Stocznia Szczecińska Nowa

On Saturday, 20 January 2007 at 12:00 hrs on “ Odra Nowa” slipway in Stocznia Szczecińska Nowa a launching operation has been effected of the last newbuilding within the series of eight chemical tankers built by the shipyard for the Norwegian Bergen-based company Odfjell ASA.
This has been the thirty second launching operation in Stocznia Szczecińska Nowa and 670th in the post-war Szczecin Shipyard history.
The ship has been released from slipway by Ms Arnhild Dyrhaug, the wife of
Mr Dan Odfjell, the shipowner.
The ship will be delivered to her owners within this June.
The newbuilding has 182 m length, 32.2 m breadth, deadweight of 39,500 tonnes, develops service speed of 15.5 knots, has total capacity of cargo tanks over 52,000 m3. She belongs to the series of the biggest worldwide tankers with stainless steel cargo tanks.
The ship is built under supervision of the Classification Society DnV.
The Chief Designer of the B588-III series is Mr Krzysztof Kapuścik, M Sc Eng, Naval Architect.
The construction of this series is being financed by the Bank DnB NORD Polska S.A. and Korporacja Ubezpieczeń Kredytów Eksportowych [Export Credit Insurance Corporation].
The launching event was not open to the public.
